Cat. #003273211: IVAN F. SIMPSON

HIGHLY rare vintage blue ballpoint pen signature on a 3 x 4.75-inch tan card, acquired in-person by a New York City-based autograph hound in 1951, the year of the actor's death. In good condition, with a touch of toning in spots. Note that the photo of the star shown here alongside the scan of the signed card is not included. Scrawny, white-haired, deliciously weird Scottish character actor Ivan F. Simpson played austere servants, lawyers, doctors, clergymen, and similar types in innumerable silent and early talkie films, including Disraeli (1929), Manslaughter (1930), The Way of All Men (1930),  The Man Who Played God (1932), The Phantom of Crestwood (1932), Sherlock Holmes (1932), The Monkey's Paw (1932), Voltaire (1933), Charlie Chan's Greatest Case (1933), Man of Two Worlds (1934), The Mystery of Mr. X (1934), The House of Rothschild (1934), The Little Minister (1934), David Copperfield (1935), Shadow of Doubt (1935), horror's Mark of the Vampire (1935) with Bela Lugosi, The Bishop Misbehaves (1935), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), The Great Impersonation (1935), Captain Blood (1935), Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936), Maid of Salem (1937), The Prince and the Pauper (1937), Night of Mystery (1937), London by Night (1937), Invisible Enemy (1938), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Marie Antoinette (1938), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939), Tower of London (1939), The Invisible Man Returns (1940) with Vincent Price, The Body Disappears (1941), Nazi Agent (1942), Random Harvest (1942), Forever and a Day (1943), Above Suspicion (1943), Jane Eyre (1943), The Uninvited (1944), and The Hour Before the Dawn (1944).
